Dear Liberty,
I am indecisive on what college to go to. When I talk to people, they always give me different opinions and advice. For instance, when I asked my older brother about his opinion, he told me to go to a 2-year college, but other people tell me I should go to a 4-year college. What should I do?
Sincerely, Indecisive
Dear Indecisive,
You’re undecided about which college to choose and everyone has a different opinion. I advise you to talk to your college counselors and ask them about 2- and 4-year colleges and what types of programs each offer. Also, you should talk to students who are at those colleges and ask them about their experiences… What do they like? What’s the hardest part? What advice do they have for you? That way you’ll be able to make a decision that’s best for you. I would also advise you to do your own additional research. Find pros and cons of every option, so you can understand how this information fits in your situation. This could depend on the career you want to pursue and the type of education you want to have. Search and research information about universities that can meet your type of career and educational needs. Many universities have pages where they provide information about what the education is like and what requirements are needed. Lastly, you should choose what YOU feel is right because at the end of the day, you are the one going to the school, not someone else.

Dear Liberty,
My concern is about finding a job. I’m scared about my financial life. I would like my job to be meaningful.
Sincerely, Finding job
Dear Finding Job,
I know you’re thinking about a new job, and I just wanted to share some words of encouragement and advice as you begin this journey. Take some time to reset, reflect on your strengths, what you’ve accomplished so far and what you really want in your next role. First of all, believe in yourself. Also, take your time to talk to your parents or somebody you know, even people that you don’t know that might help you too. You never know who has connections in the industry you are applying for. Every step is an opportunity to learn and grow. Rejection can be difficult, but each brings you to the right opportunity. Most importantly don’t settle for less than you deserve.
Sincerely, Liberty
Dear Liberty,
I got caught kissing my second option, and somebody already saw me. I was talking to two girls lately, the first one is the one I really liked, but yesterday I was caught kissing the other girl I was talking to just for fun and one of my friends from college saw me. I’m pretty sure everyone’s going to find out, so I don’t know what to do when it happens. I know that wasn’t right. The first girl is really into me, but we aren’t anything yet and I don’t want to ruin it.
Sincerely, Caught in the Middle
Dear Caught in the Middle,
Tell the truth. Cheating hurts everyone. It‘s unfair. Think about how you would feel if she did the same thing to you. Try to explain your emotions with the person who catches your attention or who you really like, since playing with two people hurts everyone involved.
Sincerely, Liberty
Dear Liberty,
I am struggling to prepare for the US History Regents Exam and feel very overwhelmed by the amount of material. I have a terrible time remembering key facts and writing essays, and my current study methods aren’t working. With the exam coming up soon, I’m looking for effective strategies and guidance to help me pass.
Sincerely, Beyond Overwhelmed
Dear Beyond Overwhelmed,
I’m advising you to focus on understanding the material, not just memorizing it. I have found studying review books and old exams to be very effective. You can create a study schedule and divide study time, for example 30 minutes of reading the information and based on that, write everything you remember in a notebook. Also, practice writing essays and answering sample questions to gain confidence. Then, constantly review your notes until the day of the exam. Remember, consistent effort is key! Study a little each day, instead of trying to cram everything at once. Make a study plan and stick to it. Hope this helps! You’ve got this!!
Sincerely, Liberty
