In a turn of events, the Liberty High School basketball team is performing incredibly well this season. The Liberty basketball team showed more intensity this season than in the past five years. They won some matches, which were very difficult and rare for our team. Without a basketball court to practice on, they managed to win 4 games this season. I interviewed the coach, a player and captain, and a spectator to find out about the team and how this season went.
A gym teacher at Liberty High School named Mr. Cassano is the coach of our basketball team. I asked him about our team, specifically how many games our team played this season. He said, “Our basketball team plays a lot of games, around 10, and that is new in our school, but we just won 4 of them. I am very proud of the players and what they have achieved.” I also asked him how our team can improve to win more games. He said, “As a coach to win more games our basketball team should focus on defense, improve communication, contest shots, and force turnovers, teamwork, build chemistry, trust on court communication, and make a lot of layups in a short time.”
One of the best players and captain of the team named Lundry was also interviewed. I asked him about the role of a captain of a team. “As a captain of the team I’m the leader of our team, so I have to be always there, always work hard like any captain, and also do what is asked. Winning a game was our mission.” I also asked him what his teammates have to do to improve. He answered, “As a captain of the Liberty basketball team, we need to practice more together as a team before the start of the season. The school needs to find a basketball court for the team because the school doesn’t have one.”
Arafat is a senior student at Liberty High School, and he attended several games of our school to enjoy his last year as a High School student. When asked about the team, he answered, “I think the players give everything they have to win but they need to improve a lot in practice, and they need a basketball court.”
It is clear that the Liberty High School basketball team had a very strong season, and I look forward to much more success in the future.
