Depression is something which people who aren’t bothered by. Teenagers who are suffering from depression should see a therapist. In fact, it helps to cope with depression and it makes people feel better. There are many people who are depressed and think there’s something wrong with them because they are unaware of the symptoms of depression. According to www.meyoclinic.org if someone is depressed they face feelings such as sadness, tearfulness, emptiness or hopelessness, angry outbursts, irritability or frustration, even over small matters. Loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities, such as hobbies or sports.

Nowadays people are so depressed, especially teenagers and young adults. According to Kathy Harms, a staff psychologist at Kansas City’s Crittenton Children’s Center, “This is a very dangerous time for our young people.”  In this generation people are most depressed because of peer pressure. It might come from school, family, or financially. Some people starts doing drugs out of depression which can end up in suicide.

Nowadays we all hear the word Gen Z all over the internet. Gen Z is the generation, who were born between 1997 and 2012. Gen Z’s are considering the depressed generation. According to kasasa.com, “There are nearly 68 million Gen Zers in the U.S.” Generation Z got stuck in pandemic crisis at their age when it was their time to learn a lot of things in freshman year of college or senior year of high school. They are stressed about jobs and the financial crisis too since a lot of people lost their jobs during lockdowns which make them look  for jobs outside of their career path. There are a lot of parents who are not aware of their children’s mental health. They don’t know what their kids are going though. There should be centers around every neighborhood where kids and parents can go and they can talk with others from the neighborhood. It is very important to know about the mental health of the people around you.

There are a lot of people who don’t take depression seriously. In their opinion depression is a thing which people can get over easily. They think the person who is depressed needs to let go of the sadness, that’s how they can get over it easily, which isn’t a way to cope with depression. According to www.depression-helper.comMost people think they have been depressed and confuse this destructive and paralyzing illness with sadness. They think that if they are depressed and have recovered then others can do it too if they just “pull themselves together.” letting go of things might work for some people to get over depression but in a lot of cases even if they want they cant get over their depression. They can’t help themselves.

Can you guess how many suicide are commit each year? According to www.ourworldindata.com globally, close to 800,000 people die from suicide every year. That’s one person every 40 seconds. You never know who is suffering from depression and thinking that suicide is the only way it can be your loved ones it can be someone from your family. If we ignore this issue there will be more suicide. There’s a famous quote by Don Mayer “It costs nothing to be kind.” We all should try to understand the deep meaning of this quote because by looking at people we can never know what they are going  through. We should always listen to people and as a community in every borough we should have a center where people who are depressed can go and together as a group people can share their thoughts. There should be some fun stuff too by which people can distract themself and make them happy. As a community we can give people reason to live.
