On Friday, September 26, 2025, Liberty High School held the National Honor Society induction ceremony. Many teachers, counselors, and students came together to celebrate the new members who worked hard to earn this honor. The event took place in the school library. Each student received a certificate and was congratulated by teachers and counselors for their effort and dedication. It was a special day that showed how Liberty High School gives students the confidence, hope and motivation to do their best to make a positive impact.
Ms. Chu, a school counselor and advisor of the National Honor Society, explained what the National Honor Society represents. She said, “The National Honor Society is a group that recognizes high school students for doing well in school and helping their community. It’s built on four main values: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Being in the NHS means you’re seen as a role model for others. It represents hard work, responsibility, and making a positive difference.” When asked what occurred during the induction ceremony on September 26, Ms. Chu explained, “At the ceremony, the new members of the NHS were officially welcomed. There were short speeches about what the group stands for, and each student was called up to sign a book and receive their certificate and pin. The event was exciting because it celebrated everyone’s efforts.”
A senior at Liberty, Bintou, who serves as the NHS president, described her role in preparing for Friday’s induction ceremony. “As president, my role is to help organize the ceremony and make sure everything runs smoothly. I work with the advisors and other officers to plan the order of events and prepare the materials we need. I also support the members who are participating, so they feel ready and confident. Most importantly, I want all of our new members to feel proud and honored as they are welcomed into the National Honor Society.” When asked what this ceremony represents to her and to the new members, she said, “This ceremony is very special because it shows the hard work and dedication of each student being inducted. It celebrates their achievements in school and in the community, and it recognizes their leadership and character. For me, it also represents the beginning of a new journey where members can continue to grow and make a difference. It’s both a celebration of success and a commitment to future responsibility.”
Another student, Mamadou Bah, a junior at Liberty and inductee, shared his advice for students who hope to join the NHS in the future. He said, “For students who want to join, it’s simple: keep your grades strong and step up as a leader whenever you can. Help out in your community to show you care about others. Always be a good person, honest, kind, and responsible. The NHS looks for students who are all-around great, so chase your passions and get involved! Show them you’re all about scholarship, leadership, service, and character.” When asked what it means to him to be a new member of the National Honor Society, he said, “Being nominated for the National Honor Society is a huge honor. It recognizes my hard work and dedication as an immigrant student. This nomination acknowledges the challenges I’ve overcome in a new country and highlights the unique perspective I bring to my school. Overall, it’s a deeply gratifying and motivating experience.”
The National Honor Society ceremony at Liberty High School was a very special day. It was full of pride and happiness for everyone. This reminded students to stay focused, kind, and responsible at school and in the community. The new members were proud to be honored for their hard work and leadership. It also inspired other students to try their best and help others. Teachers were happy to see how much students have grown and achieved.
